The provincial road 105 connecting Alghero and Bosa is a scenic route stretching for about 45 km, offering breathtaking views of both sea and mountains. Starting from Alghero, after passing the Las Tronas beaches—named after two cylindrical, throne-shaped rocks—you reach the beach of Calabona, characterized by striking pink limestone rocks and the “Canal dell’Omo Molt” (Dead Man’s Canal in Catalan), a small natural pool nestled among the rocks. Continuing onward, the road veers slightly away from the coast, leading into lush Mediterranean scrubland, and soon after into a stretch of high coastline featuring broad panoramic pull-offs where you can admire the spectacular shore linking Porto Tangone and Cape Marrargiu, which has been designated as a Site of Community Importance (SCI). Finally, near Bosa, you’ll once again catch sight of small coves with green-blue waters, the flat rocks of Torre Argentina Cove, and the area of Tentizzos (“tentacles”), known for its small sandy and pebble beaches, inlets, and natural emerald pools that stand in contrast to the vertical, colorful houses clinging between the Temo River and the hill of the Malaspina Castle as you enter the city.
